Technician Commitment Welcomes University of Dundee

The Technician Commitment is delighted to announce that the University of Dundee has signed the Commitment, joining more than half of UK universities and several research institutions in backing a pledge to support their technicians through the Technician Commitment.

The Technician Commitment is a university and research institution initiative, led by a steering board of sector bodies, with support from the Science Council and the Technicians Make It Happen campaign.

The University of Dundee joins signatories such as Heriot Watt University and the University of Sussex in their aim to ensure visibility, recognition, career development and sustainability for technicians working in higher education and research, across all disciplines.

Professor Iain Gillespie, Principal & Vice-Chancellor of the University of Dundee said:

I am delighted to confirm the University as a signatory to the Technician Commitment.

We are one of the most research-intensive universities in the UK and offer gold-standard teaching and a very strong student experience, all of which helps make a great impact on people’s lives locally and globally. The world-class work we do cannot be carried out without world-class technical support, and our technicians are a vital part of our efforts

Kelly Vere MBE, Higher Education Engagement Manager, Science Council and Technician Commitment Lead, said:

We are delighted to welcome the University of Dundee to the Technician Commitment community.

We’re so pleased with the progress we have collectively made across the sector and we are looking forward to working with the University of Dundee to advance visibility, recognition, career development and sustainability for their technical community.
