As a signatory on the initiative, BSU joins a community of higher education and research institutions brought together by the Institute to ensure visibility, recognition, career development and sustainability for technicians working across the sector.
With over 80 technical staff across BSU’s sites in Bath and London, their skills, knowledge and technical know-how are instrumental to the day to day running of the University. From biology labs to creative workshops and TV studios, the team works every day to ensure students and staff experience the best of learning and working at BSU.
Sharing the vital role that BSU’s technicians play, Professor Helen King, Director of Learning Innovation, Development and Skills at BSU said:
“The technicians and technical demonstrators in our schools' technical service play a vital role in supporting and enhancing the student learning experience, as well as in research projects and commercial knowledge exchange activities. We are delighted to externally celebrate their valued contributions though the Technician Commitment, and to continue to formally recognise and support their work.”
Celebrating BSU’s pledge of support, Carly Dellar, Operations Manager, Technician Commitment said:
“Bath Spa University is an excellent addition to our community of signatories, proudly demonstrating the university’s commitment to developing their technical staff and ensuring positive culture change for the technical community. We are delighted to support them on their journey in supporting their technical staff who deliver teaching and research.”
