Association of Technical Staff in Psychology publishes its first Technician Commitment supporter action plan

This document provides a framework for the network to address the four pillars of the Technician Commitment: visibility, recognition, career development and sustainability. It will be reassessed in three years.

We are proud to welcome the Association of Technical Staff in Psychology (ATSiP) as a formal supporter of the Technician Commitment. Supporters of the Technician Commitment are professional bodies, organisations or networks that engage with technicians.

With over 60 members from the UK and Ireland, ATSiP has long had connections with the Technician Commitment and even had its members earn the first registered science technician (RSciTech) title, a new award conferred by the Science Council.

ATSiP works closely with the British Psychological Society to inform good working practices and ensure technicians are at the forefront of knowledge and policy development. The network invites its members to input on the newly published action plan and advise on areas that need attention.

Richard Weatherall, Chair of ATSiP, commented:

"Joining the Technician Commitment is a significant milestone for ATSiP. Our technical staff are the backbone of academic and research excellence in Psychology. Through this partnership, we reaffirm our dedication to the professional growth, recognition, and support of technicians, ensuring their contributions are celebrated and their careers thrive accordingly."

Carly Dellar, Operations Manager, Technician Commitment said:

“We are delighted to welcome the Association of Technical Staff in Psychology as a supporter of the Technician Commitment. The diversity of skills and backgrounds of psychology technicians is as vast as any other discipline, and we welcome this network and its members to advancing the visibility, recognition, career development and sustainability of technical staff working in psychology and its related disciplines.”
