Applications now open for the Executive Programme in Strategic Technical Leadership launched to grow cohort of UK technical leaders

The Technician Commitment is pleased to announce its new leadership programme delivered in partnership with the Nottingham University Business School.

The course is open to all current and aspiring strategic technical leaders at higher education and research institutes across the UK and will offer rare training, experience and networking opportunities to technical staff in leadership positions.

The programme starts in July 2023 and includes opportunities to hear and learn from guest speakers from across the UK higher education and research sector. Through cohort-based learning and individual reflection, delegates will be equipped with skills to develop themselves as an effective strategic technical leader. The course will be taught over seven online interactive workshops and two in-person residentials hosted at The Jubilee Hotel and Conference Centre the University of Nottingham.

Dr Kelly Vere, University of Nottingham Director of Technical Strategy and Programme Director, Technician Commitment, said:

“Across the UK there are technicians in leadership roles who are helping to deliver outstanding education and research by ensuring the highest quality, innovative technical support. But to date there have been insufficient opportunities to grow and nurture this kind of technical leadership talent. We believe the Executive Programme in Strategic Technical Leadership to be the first of its kind globally – a leadership programme that will offer current and aspiring technical leaders in higher education and research the chance to expand their knowledge, grow their skillset and network with other sector professionals, unlocking their potential.”

Professor David Park, Dean of Nottingham University Business School, said:

“It's really exciting to be embarking on this new partnership with the Technician Commitment. I'm delighted we're already launching our first collaborative programme together to upskill and develop the breadth of talent across the sector. Individuals, their employers and the country as a whole will benefit from this programme.”
